A technical engineer with an eye for style,
Rainer Brändlein founded Essex in 2007 as an
exclusive watch brand for today’s active gentleman.

His passion for sophisticated watches goes back
over 20 years. Then, the father of his best friend
worked as a watch dealer, buying and selling
the most exclusive brands. Fascinated by the
watches’ design and advanced technical demands,
Rainer Brändlein soon dreamed of designing
and producing is own unique watch.
And now, many years later, the perfect
moment has arrived – his dream has come true.

As fate would have it, Rainer Brändlein met just the right
people who could realize his plans with expertise:
two product designers and a master watchmaker with over
20 years of experience. They were quickly inspired by
Rainer Brändlein’s philosophy about providing high-quality,
timeless watches at a price that isn’t over the top – and full of
motivation, they set to work.

Two years later, after many drafts and development stages,
the Essex La Primera collection of watches was born – and with
pride, introduced to the publicexclusively in the United States
for the first time in Men’s Health magazine.
